Orange cones lined the streets
Stacked up in piles of three
For today was a special day
And they all wanted to see
For today was the birthday
Of someone named Iggy!

Iggy's Birthday Poem
This poem comes under: Birthdays, Events, Orange Cones
Lost
Lost in the mists of my mind
Trying so hard to find...
Find what? I don't know!
Which way do I go?
Where can I turn?
How can I learn?
How can I find my way out?
Will someone come if I shout?

Traveler
The horse moved on slowly, along the country road
Pulling behind it the beautiful caravan, that was its accustomed load
The woman held on to the reins, while sitting by its door
Enjoying the sights that slowly passed her, as though she’d never seen them before
She softly hummed along to a song, that only she could hear
While Watching the scenery nature offered, at this time of the year
The fields were full of new born lambs, and there were young calves too
For it was Spring, which was the season of rebirth, she knew
The trees that had been bare all Winter, were growing leaves of green
Something she knew was amazing to see, no matter how many times it was seen
Along the road there was a hedge (some parts were green, but others bare)
And as she looked near it’s base, she was sure she saw a hare
She smiled to herself as she moved on, and sighed a happy sigh
While the sun smiled back at her, from the pure blue sky
Not every day was like this. She knew that fact was true
Not every day held sunshine, and a sky of purest blue
Some days the rain soaked her to the skin, and she shivered from the cold
Some days – despite being young – her joints ached like those of the old
There were times when storms raged over head
And she shivered in her bed
But she knew, no matter what
She wouldn’t give up this life… No she would not!
For all the days when the sun shone, and the air smelled sweet
Made up for all the days when, there was rain, hail, snow, or sleet
And all the days when she was warm
Made up for every cold Winter storm
So it was with a light heart, and a contented smile
That she found a clearing in a field, where they could rest a while
She made camp and fed the horse
Then she fed herself, of course
After that she settled in
For the night with her knitting
And when her head began to droop
She finished up her mug of soup
Then checked the horse would be alright
Before settling down to sleep for the night
The sounds of nature still filled her head
As she snuggled up in her bed
This was the way she liked it to be
It made her feel alive and free

Dear Jack
Without a trace you vanished
I don’t know why or where
All I know is that one day
You just were not there
And now I’m thinking of you
Just like I’ve done before
Wondering where you are now
And why you’re not here any more
Dear Jack, where ever you may be
I hope you are content
I hope you are not suffering
Where ever it was you went

In The Darkness Of My World
In the darkness of my world
The monsters are all around
They’re lurking just out of reach of my hands
Making only the occasional sound
I hear them when the wind blows
They’re howling just outside
There’s nowhere safe to go
There’s no good place to hide
In the darkness of my world
Nowhere is safe any more
Something could be hiding
The other side of any door
Or possibly behind the sofa?
You never know where they’ll be
The monsters are lurking everywhere
Waiting to attack me

The Leaf Monster
Rustle, rustle, rustle,
Someone’s following you!
Where will you go?
What will you do?
Rustle, rustle, rustle,
It sounds like dry, dead leaves
Rustle, rustle, rustle,
The Leaf Monster breathes!
What will it do when it catches you?
Let’s not wait to see!
Run, run as fast as you can!
Come on, follow me!
Let’s get away before it comes
We’ll be safe when we get inside
The Leaf Monster can’t come indoors
So that’s the best place to hide.
Rustle, rustle, rustle,
Hurry, it’s on its way!

I Don’t Know Who You Are
Deep down I knew you were lying
But it hurts to know I was right
And now I can’t trust you
Though I tried with all of my might
I don’t know who you are
For the girl I thought I knew
Doesn’t even exist
So how can she be you?
I don’t know who you are
For it was all a lie
And now I can not trust you
(I’m sure you can see why)

Something In The Air
The frost lays thickly on the ground
And Christmas lights are all around
‘Tis the season to be jolly
And deck the halls with boughs of holly
Well, so they tell me anyway
But it doesn’t feel that way
For there is something in the air
That really should not be there
What happened to that warm glow
From Christmases I used to know?

That's Why I Love You
When my world came crashing down around me
You were right there to hold my hand
When I needed someone to understand me
You did your best to understand
When I cried because I could take no more
You gently kissed away my tears
When I was so scared of what was coming next
You held me close to soothe my fears
That’s why I love you
When I got upset or angry
Because things weren’t going right
You were the one who was right there
To tell me, “It’s alright!”
When I felt so very lost
You helped me find my way
And even when I yell at you
You still promise that you’ll stay
That’s why I love you

Please Stay
Please stay with me and hold me tight
I can’t bear to be alone tonight
Forget your friends and your PC
Just hold me close and stay with me
Promise me you’ll never go away
It’s something I need to hear you say
Tell me that your love is true
And that you love me like I love you
Please stay with me, I need you here
I need to feel that you are near
I know that things will be alright
If you just hold me close tonight
